MANILA - The Philippine National Police (PNP) started Monday its campaign to purge rogues from its ranks, urging the public to report policemen involved in crime.

The hotline (+639989702286) was opened even as Director General Ronald dela Rosa has yet to complete a special task force against "scalawag" policemen.

"We start the ball rolling today," Dela Rosa told reporters.

Dela Rosa suspended the police's anti-drug drive last week after some of his men were accused of using the campaign as a cover for the abduction and killing of Korean businessman Jee Ick Joo.

The task force will be composed of commandos from the Special Action Force and intelligence operatives, Dela Rosa said.

"We call that task force dahil kumpleto yan—may imbestigador, merong counterintelligence operatives para ma-validate at ma-investigate itong information," he said.

(We call that a task force because it's complete. There's an investigator, counterintelligence operatives to validate and investigate information.)
