MANILA - The chief of the Philippine National Police said Monday seven Angeles City policemen who were allegedly involved in the extortion and illegal detention of three Korean tourists will be removed from their posts.
Director General Ronald dela Rosa had been criticized for making the seven policemen do push-ups before news cameras.
"I cannot understand bakit ganiyan sila; nagta-trabaho na nga lang tayo. Bakit, hanggang doon lang ba? Hindi naman hanggang ganun lang. May kaso yun. Ultimately madi-dismiss yun, I tell you. Matatanggal sa serbisyo yun," he said in a press conference.
(I don't understand them. We are just doing our jobs. Did it stop there? It didn't They will face charges. Ultimately, they will dismissed from the service.)
The seven policemen were brought to Camp Crame on Friday and were put under restrictive custody.
