CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY - A man from Balo-i, Lanao del Norte, who identified himself as a minor, was arrested by the police's Cagayan de Oro Drug Enforcement Unit in Brgy. 37 in this city Sunday night in a drug buy-bust operation.
Eleven sachets of suspected shabu worth P465,240 were confiscated by police.
Police Chief Inspector Maricris Mulat said the suspect is a member of a narcotics group from Lanao del Norte.
"Based on our initial investigation, [he] together with his cousins, they travel from Baloi to Cagayan de Oro to supply drugs for their sub-dealers in villages. That's their task, responsibility and I can say that he belongs to a drug group. Some of his relatives had been arrested in our previous operations," said Mulat.
However, the suspect denied owning the seized shabu.
Police put into the record that the suspect is 18 years, based on his first testimony.
The suspect, however, changed his statement and said he is only 14 years old.
"The burden of proof is theirs, if they can provide legal documents of him being a minor. But we will contest that. In his first testimony, he said he was born in 2000," said Mulat.
He is now considered a high-value drug personality by authorities considering the large amount of shabu recovered from him.
