Mikey Arroyo injured in accident; driver killed

PAMPANGA (3rd UPDATE) - The son of former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, former Pampanga Rep. Juan Miguel “Mikey” Arroyo, was injured in a vehicular accident Monday afternoon in Bacolor town, initial reports said.

A Honda Civic being driven by a policeman collided with a Toyota Hilux carrying Arroyo. The Toyota Hilux was being driven by a John Macaraig.

The policeman died on the spot while Arroyo and another passenger were injured in the accident. 

Rescuers had difficulty in saving the police officer who was trapped inside his Honda Civic.

A Toyota Hilux carrying former Rep. Juan Miguel "Mikey" Arroyo was rammed by another vehicle, killing at least one person.

Arroyo and his companion were rushed to the Mother Teresa of Calcutta Hospital but were later transferred to St. Luke's Hospital in Metro Manila.

Former first gentleman Mike Arroyo, in a text message, said his son was in the passenger's seat when the accident happened. 

The younger Arroyo went through a series of medical tests, including a CT scan and x-ray, at St. Luke's.
