MANILA - A magnitude 3.8 earthquake struck off Eastern Samar Saturday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Phivolcs said the quake occurred at 2:19 a.m., 16 kilometers southwest of Maydolong in Eastern Samar.
It was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 36 kms.
Intensity IV was felt in Maydolong, Intensity III in Borongan City, and Intensity II in Catbalogan City and Palo in Leyte, the agency said.
Aftershocks and damages are not expected, Phivolcs said.
