NEGROS OCCIDENTAL - A member of a known robbery group in this province was arrested in Barangay Alijis, Bacolod City, Monday.
Alvin Martinez, also known as "Spiderman," had a standing warrant of arrest for alarm and scandal.
He was caught after authorities received a report on his whereabouts.
Police recovered a knife and two sachets of suspected shabu from Martinez.
Martinez is also a suspect in an indiscriminate firing incident in the area last Sunday.
Martinez, upon police interrogation, revealed his robbery group's safe house.
Recovered from the place were items allegedly stolen by the group such as a television set, bicycles, laptops, a camera, pieces of jewelry, travelling bags, a computer, a printer, car and motorcycle batteries, among others.
Authorities also recovered 2 stolen vehicles after Martinez told them where these were hidden.
Police Chief Inspector Charles Gever, Police Station 7 commander, said the group operates not only in Bacolod City but also in other areas of Negros Occidental.
Authorities are now preparing appropriate charges against Martinez.
