Soldier arrested for indiscriminate firing in Ilocos Norte

ILOCOS NORTE - A 37-year-old soldier was arrested after police received complaints that he fired a gun in Ilocos Norte on New Year's Eve.

Suspect Sgt. Rex Palattao surrendered his gun, a caliber .45, and its ammunition, when police came to his home in Barangay Sagpatan, Dingras, Ilocos Norte.

Police learned that the gun's license expired in 2013.

The suspect was charged with violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act and indiscriminate firing.

Palattao is a member of the Philippine Army, 50 IB, 5th Infantry Division, which is based in Pinukpok, Kalinga province.
