MANILA, Philippines – A couple allegedly engaged in peddling illegal drugs was nabbed early morning Friday in General Santos City.

Rodrigo Reyes, 40, and his live-in partner Mary Jane Umamen were arrested at their residence at Purok San Roque, Silway, General Santos City.

On the strength of a search warrant, agents of the National Bureau of Investigation raided their home and allegedly recovered 7 sachets of suspected shabu (methampetamine hydrochloride) and other illegal drug paraphernalia.

However, the raiding team failed to recover the 5 grams of shabu that an informant told them was meant for repacking.

Reyes has admitted selling shabu but denied using the illegal substance. For her part, Umamen denied any knowledge of her partner’s illegal activity.

Authorities also said they noticed several empty sachets of shabu and other paraphernalia scattered outside the suspects’ home. An indication, they said, that peddling of the illegal drug is rampant in the area.

The suspects are now facing charges of violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Jay Dayupay, ABS-CBN SOKSARGEN
