Canada gives P40M more for Pablo victims

MANILA, Philippines - Canada is giving an additional P40 million in aid for victims of Typhoon Pablo.

It brought to P120 million the total amount that the county has donated for typhoon victims, according to Canada's Minister of International Cooperation Julian Fantino.

The amount will be coursed through the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).

"Canada is responding to the increasing needs of the Philippine people as they face the alarming devastation caused by the typhoon," Fantino said in a press statement. "We are helping families survive by providing critical humanitarian assistance."

The typhoon has killed more than 1,000 people and left hundreds others missing.

It directly affected more than 5.4 million people in Mindanao and other parts of the country.
