MANILA, Philippines – A landslide hit Southern Leyte at the height of Tropical Storm Quinta's onslaught, National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council chief Benito Ramos said on Wednesday.

Ramos said no casualty was reported in the landslide, which blocked Maharlika Road in Barangay Kahupian.

"Closed traffic po dyan. Naka pre-position na ang ating DPWH (Department of Public Works and Highways) ng bulldozer at payloader. In three hours time, cleared na," Ramos told ANC Headstart.

Tropical storm "Quinta" (international name: Wukong) has slightly weakened after making landfall in various parts of the Visayas, the state weather bureau said.

Quinta slammed into parts of Eastern Visayas on Tuesday evening, bringing rains to the provinces of Samar, Leyte, Cebu and Northern Bohol.

Ramos said Quinta had made landfall in Homonhon Island; Abuyog, Leyte; Cebu; Negros area and Panay Island.

He said the NDRRMC is on red alert status as rain waters from the mountains pose threats of flash floods and landslides.
