MANILA, Philippines – It’s business as usual in Bocaue, Bulacan despite continuous calls from health authorities discouraging the public from using firecrackers to welcome the New Year.
More and more Pinoys are beginning to flock to Bocaue, dubbed the country’s “fireworks capital.”
However, store owners said they’ve noticed a change in buyers’ demands, as more pick pyrotechnics instead of the explosive kind of firecrackers.
The store owners have also implemented safety precautions, including drums of water in front of their stores to prevent fire.
Testing of fireworks and smoking are also prohibited in Bocaue.
Those caught smoking will be penalized with a P1,000 fine or 4 hours of community service. -- Report from Chiara Zambrano, ABS-CBN News
