Christmas eve blast rocks Iligan

MANILA, Philippines – An explosion occurred inside a lodging house in Iligan City on the evening of Christmas Eve, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said.

Alex Caburnay, head of the NBI office in Iligan, said the explosion occurred at the second floor of Nigra Lodging House in Barangay Pala-o at around 7 p.m.

The explosive was placed inside a trash bin. Authorities have yet to determine the type of explosive used. They noted that no shrapnel was recovered at the blast site.

No one was hurt in the incident, but the lodging house's glass doors and windows were shattered.

The NBI has released an artist sketch of the suspect, a man who stayed inside the room near the blast site. – report from Roxanne Arevalo, ABS-CBN News Iligan
