MANILA, Philippines – Two persons were injured following a collision between 2 passenger buses in Calauag, Quezon province.

A radio dzMM report said the accident happened along Maharlika Highway in Barangay Sta. Maria, Calauag.

Chief Inspector William Angway of the Calauag Police said the Val Transit bus was traversing the highway when it collided head on with an approaching Daet Express bus.

Both drivers were rushed to the hospital. Other passengers of the Daet Express also sustained minor injuries but decided not to go to the hospital for treatment.

Angway said the Daet Express bus was heading to Bicol from Manila and was carrying 64 passengers.

On the other hand, the Val Transit which came from Calauag to Manila only had on board its driver and bus conductor.

Meanwhile, another passenger bus carrying 44 passengers accidentally fell into a 7-meter deep canal, also in Calauag.

Quezon Police Director Sr. Supt. Erickson Velasquez said the Cul Bus (EPL 433) came from Maasin, Leyte and was traversing the Maharlika Highway along Barangay Sumulong.

The driver, Rogelio Abejardo, accidentally lost control of the bus when it swerved to avoid a possible head on collision with another vehicle.

As a result, the bus fell into the canal, rolled over and eventually landed on the balcony of a house owned by a certain Victoria Labaco.

An unidentified passenger was reportedly hurt while Abejardo fled after the accident. With a report from Ronilo Dagos, radio dzMM
