MANILA, Philippines – Lopez Group Foundation, Incorporated (LFGI) recently held a Christmas gift-giving activity in Calauan, Laguna for a community of families.
The beneficiaries include those who moved from Marikina and Pasig after they lost their homes to Tropical Storm Ondoy in 2010 and those previously relocated by the National Housing Authority.
The families, some of whom lived in informal settlements along Estero de Paco, were given Noche Buena packages.
“We cut down on our own Christmas party so these people would have something on their table for Noche Buena”, said LGFI’s Operations Head Angela Lopez-Guingona.
Guingona said the Christmas gift-giving in the community will be LFGI’s annual tradition.
LGFI is one of the institutions that helped ABS-CBN Foundation build the community, dubbed “BayaniJuan”.
BayaniJuan is a program of the ABS-CBN Foundation, partnered with the national government, local government units (LGU), non-government organization and private companies to give the relocatees shelters and access to basic utilities, and recreational, health, sports and educational facilities.
