MANILA, Philippines -- A thirteen-year-old boy died three weeks after he was mauled by another teenage boy due to a comment he posted on social networking site Facebook.
The victim was identified as John Francis Bagaporo, a 1st year high school student and a resident of El Salvador City, Misamis Oriental.
13-yr-old boy mauled due to Facebook comment
Bagaporo reported to police authorities last November 16 that he was on his way home from school when an 18-year-old boy identified only as alias "Aryong" Cariaga suddenly showed up and beat him up.
The suspect was allegedly angered by a "WEW," a mocking comment made by Bagaporo on a Facebook post of one of his girl classmates.
Cariaga was reportedly a close friend of the girl's boyfriend.
The victim's mother, Agnes, said her son was not able to go to school for two weeks following the incident.
Bagaporo had to be rushed to the hospital after experiencing severe vomiting and difficulty walking.
The victim died last December 9 due to a blood clot in the back of his fractured skull.
Senior Insp. Eldie Sambaan, chief of El Salvador Police, said a manhunt operation has been launched against the suspect. -- Report from Maricel Butardo, ABS-CBN News Northern Mindanao
