MANILA - The Angat Dam in Norzagaray, Bulacan released excess water on Saturday, the National Power Corporation (Napocor) said.
According to Napocor, gate 2 of the dam was scheduled to be opened half a meter at 5 p.m. to allow an outflow of about 60 cubic meters of water per second.
Napocor said this is to draw down the water level of the reservoir while maintaining the stability of the dam.
The water level at the Angat Dam rose due to the heavy rains brought about by the northeast monsoon or amihan.
The water level at the dam as of 4 p.m. was at 214.85 meters, above its 212-meter critical level mark.
