MANILA, Philippines – More than 8,000 people gathered at the Cebu Technological University on Friday in an attempt to make the Guinness Book of World Records for most people dancing simultaneously to "Gangnam Style".

The group, composed of students, teachers, and other employees of the Cebu Technological University, danced to the Korean hit to pay tribute to a school staff who is set to retire this year.

The dancers filled up the entire track oval of the university.

The Supreme Student Government officers, who served as the main organizer of the mass dance, said they chose “Gangnam” because of its current popularity and easy dance moves.

Students wore PE uniforms while several nursing and marine students danced in their white uniforms.

Psy’s “Gangnam Style” recently broke the Guinness record for most “likes” on video-sharing site YouTube. -- Report from Edgar Escalante, ABS-CBN News Central Visayas
