2 killed in Negros Occidental bus-truck collision
MANILA, Philippines – Two persons were killed while several others were injured in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a truck in Kabankalan, Negros Occidental Tuesday.
Supt. Calixto Mabugat of Kabankalan City Police said truck driver Fomasco Loberas and helper Pablito Baslao died on the spot after their vehicle collided with a Ceres bus in Sitio Naga, Barangay Binicuil.
Mabugat said the truck was trying to overtake another vehicle when it crashed into the approaching bus.
The truck, which was carrying sugar canes, was bound for Himamaylan City. The bus, on the other hand, was bound for Kabankalan.
The driver and 14 bus passengers were rushed to a hospital in Bacolod City after sustaining injuries. – report from Mark Salanga, ABS-CBN News Negros
