MANILA, Philippines – At least 34 homes were razed in a fire that hit Sitio Mohon, Tisa, Cebu City on Saturday.
Authorities said the fire started in the home of a certain Oscar Alingasa at 1:24 p.m.
Alingasa told authorities that he and his family were not home when the incident happened.
He suspects that faulty electrical wires caused the fire.
He said that before leaving the house, he noticed a spark as he wrapped the ripped wirings with electrical tape.
The Bureau of Fire Protection said they had difficulty in putting out the fire because of the narrow road and the lack of fire hydrant in the area.
Barangay officials have yet to determine the number of families affected.
They are set to be evacuated at the barangay sports complex.
No casualties have been reported in the incident. -- Report from Carine Asutilla, ABS-CBN News Central Visayas
