BATANGAS, Philippines – A member of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) was shot dead by a mayor’s security aide after an altercation in Nasugbu, Batangas past midnight Wednesday.

Airman 2nd Class (A2C) Joemon Artikulo, a member of the 733rd Combat Squadron, was in front of a burger stand with A1C Van Rigell Perez and A2C Lord Ryan Reyes along Malasugue Street in Barangay Wawa when security aide Allan Ernie kicked the soldiers’ pet dog.

The soldiers, who were in civilian attire, scolded Ernie for kicking the dog.

Ernie started firing shots at the soldiers, hitting Artikulo, 25, on the chest and killing him.

Meanwhile, Ernie sustained a gunshot wound to his side torso after the soldiers retaliated.

The soldiers escaped and reported the incident to their superiors stationed in Barangay Calo.

Police said Ernie was with a companion, only identified as “JR”, when the shooting occurred.

Ernie, 34, is a security aide of Trece Martirez, Cavite Mayor Melandres De Sagun. He is now recovering at the Madonna General Hospital.

Ernie was reportedly sent by De Sagun to provide security to a relative who has been receiving death threats.
