MANILA, Philippines – At least 60 families lost their homes in a fire that hit Barangay Zapote Dos in Bacoor, Cavite on Wednesday.
Authorities said the fire, which reached the second alarm, started in the home of a certain Bernadette Ilumbra at 11:46 a.m.
They suspect that an unattended candle may have triggered the fire.
Fire Inspector Aldrin Salazar, chief of the Bureau of Fire Protection-Bacoor, said the fire immediately spread because the homes were made of light materials.
Fire out was declared at around 1 p.m.
The fire, which razed more than 30 homes, caused damage to an estimated P1 million worth of properties. No casualties were reported. -- Report from Eric Dastas, dzMM
