MANILA, Philippines – The camp of Nueva Vizcaya Governor Luisa Lloren Cuaresma will file a motion for reconsideration before the Supreme Court after her certificate of candidacy (COC) for congresswoman was “deemed not filed” by the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
According to Cuaresma’s camp, Comelec’s decision not to accept her COC did not adhere to democratic process.
Comelec said Cuaresma violated Section 3 of Resolution 9158, which states that a COC should be notarized.
Cuaresma also criticized Comelec because she was allegedly not given a chance to air her side.
Cuaresma’s ally Rep. Carlos M. Padilla is also running for the same position in the province. -- Report from Rachel Itchon, dzMM
