MANILA, Philippines – A church in Pagadian City is now under police protection after receiving threats from victims of Aman Futures.
The Christ the Lord Glory Church in Pagadian is said to have been built off profits from Aman Futures, which is why Pastor Hipolito Paner is concerned that investors may take out their frustrations on the church.
Pastor Paner insists he is also a victim, saying he lost more than P100,000 of his own money as well as P8 million in the church's funds.
Paner also says hundreds of pastors under the Christian and Missionary Alliance Churches of the Philippines were duped by Aman Futures.
The Philippine National Police has promised to provide security for the church.
The National Bureau of Investigation in Pagadian continues to transmit documents to the Department of Justice so that cases can be filed against Aman Futures officials.
The Anti-Money Laundering Council also confirms a newspaper report that it got the Court of Appeals to approve a freeze order on bank accounts linked to Aman Futures. -- Reports from Ronnie Enderes, ABS-CBN News Iligan; ANC
