MANILA, Philippines – A magnitude 4.7 earthquake hit Batangas on Friday afternoon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Phivolcs said the earthquake occurred at 12:52 p.m. Its epicenter was located 3 kilometers northeast of Nasugbu.
The earthquake was tectonic in origin which means it was caused by the movement of a local fault. It had a depth of 183 kms.
Phivolcs said aftershocks or damage to property are not expected from the earthquake.
