MANILA, Philippines (UPDATE) – The reward being offered for any information that will lead to the arrest of the suspect in the killing of a University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) student has been raised to P500,000.

Laguna Governor George ‘ER’ Ejercito said he will add P300,000 to the P200,000 offered earlier by Biñan City Mayor Marlyn Alonte for the arrest of Benigno Nayle Jr., the suspect in the killing of 19-year-old Maria Victoria Reyes on Monday.

Three tracking teams have also been deployed to pursue the suspect, OIC Laguna Police Director Fausto Manzanilla said.

Two witnesses have identified Nayle as the suspect. He was previously charged with robbery, physical injury and direct assault charges.

Authorities believe that Nayle escaped with a friend. The suspects' relatives are also nowhere to be found after the incident.

Meanwhile, Manzanilla clarified that their investigation showed that the victim was not raped. -- Report from Noel Alamar, dzMM
