MANILA, Philippines (UPDATE) – At least eight people were injured in a grenade explosion in Cagayan de Oro City on Wednesday morning.
Authorities said a grenade was lobbed in front of the office of money lending company Golden Sun Finance Corporation in Barangay Lapasan at around 7 a.m.
Eight people were injured, including two policemen from nearby Camp Vicente Alagar, the headquarters of the Philippine National Police – Region 10 (Northern Mindanao).
The victims were rushed to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center. One of them is in critical condition.
Police have yet to determine the suspect behind the blast.
The lending firm suspects that a case it recently filed against several borrowers had something to do with the blast. – report from Fred Dellava, dzMM
