MANILA, Philippines – A female businesswoman kidnapped more than a month ago is now reunited with her family in Zamboanga del Sur.

Monalisa Capa went home to her family around 6 p.m. Friday. Police said her release was a result of the joint effort of government troops and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front Adhoc Joint Action Group (AHJAG).

MILF’s AHJAG representative Alimuddin Boalan, who is also the victim’s uncle, negotiated with the suspects. They eventually released the victim without her family paying ransom.

The victim, who is engaged in the fishing business, was kidnapped at her ice plant in Poblacion Pitogo last October 8 in Zamboanga del Sur. - Reports from Jewel Reyes, ABS-CBN Zamboanga, and Dexter Ganibe, radio dzMM
