MANILA, Philippines – Sarangani province and General Santos City are brimming with excitement for Manny Pacquiao’s super welterweight title fight against Antonio Margarito this Sunday (Saturday in the US).

Among those who have already set his Sunday plans is pedicab driver Richard Chavez.

He said he and his family will be marching their way to the Sarangani Capitol Gym in Alabel where there will be a free viewing of the fight.

“Mas maganda dito,” he said. “Malaki ang screen. Mas maganda manood. Maraming kasama.”

It was Pacquiao himself who arranged the free viewing in Sarangani, where he serves as congressman.

Pacquiao’s father, Rosaleo, meanwhile, will watch the fight in the comforts of his home in General Santos City.

Rosaleo said he has offered a mass and has given a donation to their church to wish his son a good fight.

“Maraming salamat sa lahat ng nagdasal para sa aking anak,” he said.

Free tickets were also given away for the live pay-per-view at the General Santos Gym.

More than 600,000 fans are expected to fill up the gym on Sunday.

“Ang saya ko! May ticket ako. Tiyak si Manny na mananalo bukas,” said Ma. Chona Makitutin.

A village chief said they ran out of tickets in just a blink of an eye.

“Marami na nagpila kanina pero hindi namin nabigyan lahat,” said Barangay Captain Lourdes Casabuela. – With a report from Anne Santos, ABS-CBN News SOKSARGEN
