7 inmates bolt Quezon jail

MANILA, Philippines – Seven detainees of a police station in Polilio, Quezon have escaped their cell, police said on Friday.

Investigations showed that the inmates were able to escape by sawing through prison bars.

The suspects were identified as Mark Anthony Cabayasa, 18; Leoben Bobet, 24; Arnold Montano, 19; Merlito Bo, 20; Arwel Crispol, 33; Santos Penuscas; and Melchor Buegis, 43.

Both Cabayasa and Bobet are facing robbery charges while Montano and Bo are charged with illegal possession of deadly weapon.

Penuscas is charged with rape while Buegis is facing murder raps.

Police Chief Supt. Valeriano De Leon said the chief of the police station will be held liable for the incident. -- Report from Edwin Sevidal, dzMM
