35 fishermen rescued in Cagayan, 1 still missing

MANILA - Despite advice of regional disaster coordinating council (RDCC) officials against going out to sea Monday, 36 fishermen in 17 bancas went out to sea from the coast of Claveria town in Cagayan province Monday dawn.
The fishermen were expected by their families to have been back by 10 a.m.
The fishermen were however battered by big waves which caused some of the bancas to capsize.
Some of the fishermen had to swim to the other bancas. The huge waves carried them to the coast of Santa Praxedes town also in Cagayan.
It was from here that they were able to alert RDCC officials of their plight.
The RDCC immediately launched a rescue operation and before noon, 35 of the fishermen were rescued.
Among those rescued were identified as: Arnold Agarpao, Bonifacio Agbayani, Toty Agarpao, Carlo Cacut, Dante Agarpao, Jomar Bumagat, Bobot Roma, Sadiri Aguinaldo, Melchor Agarpao, Jorge Lacar, Lito Agarpao, Zaldy, Manny, Celso Dewilan, Joseph Dewilan, Claro Rafanan, Jong Asuncion, Perfecto Lagadon, Antonio Dela Rosa, Nixon Abuyan, Albert Dawdado, Lingbert Quinto, Jenny, Olen Bangalan, Jv Obasa, Fabian Agarpao, Eric Galzote, Anjon Yadao, Gilbert Rafanan, Jec Gorospe, Jeofrey Garma, Jinnong Hassan and Eddi Lacar.
Fabian Agarpao, meanwhile was being treated for injuries he sustained during the incident.
