MANILA, Philippines - Family and friends visited the late Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo’s grave on Thursday. Only his parents were absent.
Up until now, Jose Chan Robredo and Marcelina Manalastas, still don’t know of the late Cabinet secretary’s fate. Both are now in their 80s and are very sick.
Led by Maria Leonora “Leni” Robredo, family and friends marked All Saints’ Day by visiting the late official’s tomb at the Eternal Gardens in Naga City around 10:00 a.m. on Thursday.
The widow, who wore a black shirt with a print of her husband's face, was with her three children: Jessica Marie or Aika, Patricia and Jillian Therese.
Leni admitted she still feels despair over Jesse's death.
"Pakonti-konting nararamdaman na may kulang sa pamilya. Kahit sa gitna ng maraming gawain, ramdam pa rin ang pagkawala (ni Jesse)," she said.
Jesse's daughters took photos of themselves beside their father's tomb to somehow ease their pain.
Aika, Jesse's eldest daughter, said, "Kaming lahat nagdadasal na sana masaya at payapa siya."
Jesse's brother Butch and sister Jeanne also visited the late official's tomb. Butch said he still watches videos of the eulogies given to his younger brother.
Aside from the Robredo family, Jesse's supporters also flocked to the Eternal Gardens.
They prayed while some offered candles and flowers for their "idol" Jesse.
Robredo’s plane crashed off the waters of Masbate on August 18. It was only after three days that his body was found. – from a report by Jonathan Magistrado, ABS-CBN News Bicol
