5 soldiers hurt in road mishap in Basilan

MANILA, Philippines – Five government soldiers were injured in a road accident in Lamitan City, Basilan on Friday, authorities said.

The soldiers were reportedly on their way back to Isabela City from Tumahubong, Sumisip when their vehicle lost its brakes.

The vehicle turned to its side, causing injury to the soldiers on board, who were identified as Sgt. Jilton Almonte, Cpl. Rex Dalida, Sgt. Rodrigo Talan, Cpl. Arnel Alberto Suyat and Cpl. Ronald Sebastian.

The soldiers were immediately brought to St. Peter's Hospital for first aid assistance before they were transferred to the Camp Navarro General Hospital in Zamboanga City. -- Report from Queenie Casimiro, ABS-CBN News Zamboanga
