MANILA, Philippines – A radio blocktimer was arrested after he was caught in the act of selling illegal drugs in Masbate, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said on Thursday.

Felicito Lazaro, 62, a radio blocktimer from Bagong Silang, Masbate, was caught selling methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) to an undercover agent last October 23 in Barangay Binanuahan, Pilar, Sorsogon.

PDEA said the shabu seized from Lazaro weighed 4.5 grams.

"Lazaro has been under surveillance by PDEA for quite some time because he is one of the major drug suppliers of shabu in the area. His arrest dealt a crippling blow to the local drug industry in the provinces of Masbate and Sorsogon," said PDEA chief Arturo Cacdac, Jr.

PDEA said Lazaro has been detained at the PDEA Regional Office 5 jail facility in Legazpi City.

Lazaro is facing charges for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
