MANILA - Major roads to Nueva Ecija have opened Friday as floods caused by typhoon "Lando" subsided.
All major roads are now accessible except for the Bongabon-Laur Road. Motorists may take the alternate road of Olivete-Bongabon.
Nueva Ecija Governor Aurelio Umali said flooding has receded in 28 towns but many of the province's rice fields remain immersed in water.
Lando damaged some 134,000 hectares of rice fields and 800 hectares of plantations for vegetables and high-value crops, Umali said.

The cost of damage to agriculture is pegged at P4.4 billion.
Around 2,000 livestock also perished in the raging floods, including 40 carabaos.
