BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – A lawyer-businessman was shot and killed by an unknown suspect in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental on Saturday evening.
The victim identified as Johnny Chua, 63, was shot while he was riding his service vehicle, an Isuzu Alterra, driven by his son Brent, at around 6 p.m. yesterday.
Police said the car was about to turn right at the corner GV Burgos Street in Barangay 19 when an unidentified person suddenly shot them four times and hit the victim at his right armpit.
Brent immediately rushed his father to Riverside Medical Hospital for medical treatment but was later announced dead.
According to Police Superintendent Santiago Rapiz, Bacolod City Police Office spokesman, the incident seems to appear as well planned.
Rapiz said it is even possible that the victim and his son were followed even before the incident happened.
About 15 meters away from the scene of the incident, one pair of surgical gloves was recovered believed to be from the suspect.
Police believed that the target of the suspect was only Chua.
Investigation is still underway about the motive of the incident.
