NORTH COTABATO, Philippines – More than 80 individuals participated in the Globe Arakan XC, a 60-kilometer cross-province fund-raising bicycle challenge launched last Saturday.
From the Philippine Eagle Center in Davao City, Mindanao, the bikers experienced a mix of on-road and off-road rides all the way to the finish line in Sittio Inamong, Brgy. Datu Ladayon in Arakan, North Cotabato.
The Philippine Eagle Foundation received a P500,000 check from Globe from the fund-raising bike challenge.
The money will be used for the implementation of the Forest Corridor Development Program, which aims to restore wildlife habitats by means of carbon development while protecting the remaining forest fragments.
It was Globe’s first ever environment challenge, which was designed for both beginners and experienced bikers to explore and raise awareness on culture, environment and the need to protect the mountain ranges.
