100 dogs rescued in Cavite

MANILA, Philippines – Around 100 stray dogs were rescued in a joint operation conducted by the Provincial Intelligence Branch of Cavite Police and the Animal Welfare Foundation (AWF) in Barangay Matagbac, Alfonso, Cavite at around 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

The operation also led to the arrest of Jackson Ilagan and Dexter Almayda, both residents of Barangay Cuyab, San Pedro, Laguna.

Ilagan and Almayda were allegedly about to deliver the dogs when they were caught.

Edgardo and Rosario Salazar, suspected of being the financers of the dog trading operation, were also arrested.

The dogs will be transferred to the care of AWF in Tarlac. -- Report from Carolyn Bonquin, ABS-CBN News Southern Tagalog
