Popular political families dominated the first day of the filing of certificates of candidacies (COC) in the provinces.

In Camarines Sur, incumbent Governor Migz Villafuerte is gunning for a second term, while his father, L-Ray, is vying for a position as the representative of the province's second district. Luis Villafuerte, who previously went against his grandson for the post of governor, is now running as representative of Camarines Sur's third district.

In Palawan, Douglas Hagedorn is seeking another term as congressman in the third district, while his brother, Edward, will seek the mayoralty in Puerto Princesa.

Meanwhile, in La Union, several members of the Ortega family are going against each other for local positions.

Pablo Ortega is pitted against his nephew, Mannix, for the position of representative of La Union's first district. Another member of the family, Francisco Emmanuel, is running for governor, while Victor Ortega will run as mayor in San Fernando.

Victor's brother, Pepe, who is running for vice mayor, is going against his nephew, Alf Ortega, for the position.

In Mindanao, the Pacquiaos are also following Manny's footsteps. Bobby is running as General Santos City's councilor, while Ruel Pacquiao is eyeing Sarangani's congressional seat. - Dateline Philippines, ANC, 13 October 2015
