DIPOLOG - Police identified Thursday the owner of the van that was used in abducting Italian businessman Rolando del Torchio in Dipolog City Wednesday night.

Dipolog police said the silver metallic L300 van belongs to Amante Bagain Sagario, a resident of Katipunan Village in Taguig.

Unidentified armed men used the vehicle in the kidnapping of 56-year-old del Torchio from the pizza restaurant he owns in Dipolog.

The abductors initially posed as customers at the UR Choice restaurant before forcing the victim at gunpoint to board a van.

The van sped off to Dipolog Boulevard, where two pumpboats were waiting. The van was abandoned at the boulevard.

The Joint Task Force Zambasulta earlier said the abductors will probably head westward towards Jolo, passing Sindangan, Siocon and Sirawai.

Pursuit operations are still ongoing to save del Torchio, who is also a former Catholic priest. -- Report from Joel Ramirez, ABS-CBN News
