MANILA, Philippines – A new storm may enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) today, the state weather bureau said.
Speaking to radio dzMM, PAGASA forecaster Connie Rose Dadivas said tropical storm "Prapiroon" will be locally codenamed "Nina" once it enters PAR between 8 and 11 a.m. today.
As of 4 a.m., PAGASA said the storm was located 1,320 kilometers east of Tuguegarao City.
The storm was packing maximum winds of 65 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 80 kph.
It was moving west at 15 kph.
Based on its 24-hour forecast for Monday, PAGASA said Palawan and Mindanao will experience occasional light to moderate rains or thunderstorms.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy with brief rains or thunderstorms.
