Cessna plane crash-lands in Cebu; 2 occupants safe

MANILA, Philippines - A two-seater trainer plane crash landed in Lake Danao in Camotes Island in Cebu province, police reported Tuesday.

Inspector Socrates Sermedillo, chief of the San Francisco municipal police, said that the Cessna plane had 2 occupants, including pilot John Almero and an Indian national, when it crash landed in Lake Danao.

Sermedillo said Almero and the foreign student pilot have been rescued and are now confined in a hospital in Cebu City.

The local police chief said that the trainer plane came from Ormoc City and was already on its way back to Cebu when its engine went dead.

He said that Almero was able to guide the plane and crash landed it to Lake Danao. -- report from June Perez, radio dzMM
