MANILA, Philippines (UPDATE) – Three Taiwanese tourists died after a passenger pump boat capsized in Boracay on Wednesday afternoon.
According to safety officer Ronnie Hiponia of the Philippine Coast Guard in Caticlan, the victims were aged 71, 49 and 2.
Hiponia said the Coast Guard rescued the other passengers of the pump boat, which was allegedly carrying 30 Taiwanese tourists and 6 Filipino crew members.
The boat capsized past 1 p.m. in the vicinity of Crocodile Island in Barangay Tambisaan, Malay, Aklan.
The passengers were supposed to go island hopping at the Crocodile Island when strong winds and waves hit the motor banca. -- With a report from Nony Basco, ABS-CBN News Iloilo
