MANILA, Philippines – Another tropical storm has entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), according to weather bureau PAGASA.
In its 11 p.m. bulletin on Tuesday, PAGASA said the storm with international name “Gaemi” entered the PAR and was named “Marce.”
The storm was last spotted 410 kilometers west of Dagupan, Pangasinan and was seen moving east southeast at 10 kilometers per hour (kph).
PAGASA said Marce is carrying maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph.
The storm is still far to directly affect the country, but it is expected to enhance the southwest monsoon (“habagat”), which will continue to bring moderate to heavy rains in Luzon.
No public storm warning signals have been raised so far.
Marce is the 13th tropical cyclone to enter PAR this year.
