MANILA, Philippines – Boxing champion and Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao has already formalized his plans to run for re-election.
The fighting congressman filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) at the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) provincial office inside the Capitol complex on Tuesday.
According to Sarangani.gov.ph, Pacquiao was accompanied by his wife Jinkee, who will run as Sarangani vice-governor.
Pacquiao’s first attempt at a political seat was in the 2007 elections when he ran for a congressional seat in the 1st District of South Cotabato. He lost to Darlene Antonino-Custodio.
He ran again in the 2010 elections and won as congressman of Sarangani province.
Pacquiao is expected to fly to Los Angeles after the filing of his COC.
The eight-division champion is scheduled for a December 8 fight against Juan Manuel Marquez.
