MANILA -- Laguna 4th District Rep. Benjie Agarao received a one-of-a-kind ''gift'' during the oath-taking ceremony of new members of the Liberal Party (LP) in Sta. Cruz, Laguna.
LP standard bearer Mar Roxas led the ceremony, which also doubled as a celebration for Agarao's 57th birthday. Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Francis Tolentino was also present in the ceremony.
After the oath-taking, a group of dancers, known as "Playgirls" appeared on stage. The celebration's emcee introduced the girl group as a "gift" from Tolentino.
The group performed raunchy dance moves and even invited some of the men in the audience to join them on stage for "parlor games."
Photos and videos of the group's performance are now circulating online.
People who have seen the videos criticized Tolentino for bringing in the group as a "gift."
TOLENTINO DENIES 'GIFT'
In a post on Facebook, Tolentino denied the allegations, adding that the emcee got the wrong information.
"Please hear my side of the story about certain materials circulating online: I was just a guest at the birthday party. I did not bring any dancers/singers. The emcee probably got misinformed," Tolentino said.
Agarao, in a phone interview with ABS-CBN News, said he did not witness the "dirty dancing," since he was outside the venue.
AGARAO: COMMON ENTERTAINMENT
He, however, said similar forms of entertainment are common in the provinces.
"Pangkaraniwan na ho iyan sa probinsiya, may nageregalo ng entertainment. Pero 'di dapat nakahubad. Alam niyo naman, ang makabagong sayaw ngayon, medyo parang iba, 'di tulad ng tinikling," Agarao said.
He also said he will have the incident investigated.
"Ako ay humihingi ng pasensiya sa mga kababayan ko. Hindi ko po alam."
Michael Tupaz, the manager of the group, told ABS-CBNNews.com that it was a certain "Joanna" who contacted him and invited the girls to the event, without mentioning that it was LP event. -- with reports from Ernie Manio and RG Cruz, ABS-CBN News
