2 NPAs killed, one arrested in an encounter

MANILA, Philippines – Two members of the New People’s Army were killed while another was arrested after an encounter with government soldiers and police at Barangay Dela Paz, Columbio in Sultan Kudarat.

Lieutenant Colonel Alexis Noel Bravo, commander of the Philippine Army’s 27th Infantry Battalion, said their team immediately responded after they received information from residents about the alleged extortion of the armed men in the area.

Authorities have yet to name the two NPA members although the one who was arrested was identified as Renato Arema.

Corporal Hadji Manor Amino, meawhile, was wounded in the encounter.
