Floods put 2 areas under state of calamity

MANILA – A state of calamity has been declared in Nasugbu, Batangas due to the damage caused by monsoon rains.

Nasugbu Mayor Rosario "Charito" Apacible said 12 barangays were affected by nonstop rains, which triggered deep floods.

Around 750 families were affected, prompting 125 families to evacuate.

Several homes in Brgy. Bucana and Brgy. Cogunan were also damaged.

The whole province of Occidental Mindoro was also placed under a state of calamity because of the damage caused by “Maring” and the recent monsoon rains to 11 towns.

In the town of Sablayan, around 800 families or 4,000 individuals were affected.

The damage caused to agriculture has reached an estimated P241,812,914.

In Sta. Cruz, at least 20 homes were destroyed by strong winds.

Around 20 homes were also damaged in Abra de Ilog and Barangay Wawa due to flashfloods, affecting 467 families.

In Paluan, around 880 families or 4,415 individuals were affected by floods.

In Mamburao, 94 families or 367 individuals were evacuated. -- Report from Dennis Datu, dzMM
