MANILA, Philippines - A movie on the life of Blessed Pedro Calungsod premiered Monday night in Cebu City.
“St. Pedro Calungsod The Movie” held its premiere screening at Cafe Laguna in Cebu Business Park.
Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma and Mayor Michael Rama led the Cebuano Catholic faithful who flocked to the premiere screening of the film.
The movie tells the story of the young Calungsod’s journey to the Marianas Islands together with Blessed Diego Luis de Sanvitore to preach the Catholic faith more than 400 years ago.
Movie viewers were all praises for the film after its premiere showing.
The life story of Calungsod is viewed by many as a good example to the youth of the country.
The movie is directed by former TV Patrol Central Visayas Anchor Dante Luzon and is a production of the Cebu Catholic Television Network (CCTN).
University of the Philippines student Ulysses Dayanan plays the role of Calungsod while businessman Gil Maningo plays the role of de Sanvitore.
Palma said the movie will be shown in Rome during the canonization of Calungsod on October 21. Other screenings of the film will be held in parishes in the Archdiocese of Cebu. Report by Edgar Escalante, ABS-CBN News
