MANILA, Philippines – Management of the Philippine Airlines (PAL) was forced to cancel its flight from Zamboanga to Manila on Saturday morning.
In a media bulletin, PAL said its PR 124 flight was supposed to depart at 6:55 a.m. from Zamboanga to Manila. But an aircraft inspection prior to departure showed indications that it had been hit by a bird strike.
“The bird strike incident was believed to have occurred during the preceding flight, PR 123, which departed Manila at 4:43 a.m. and arrived Zamboanga at 6:18 a.m. today,” PAL said.
Affected passengers were transferred to other PAL and Airphil flights from Zamboanga to Manila.
“The cancelled PR 124 flight, an Airbus a319 carrying 101 passengers, will remain grounded until further notice,” said PAL.
