Two of Sen. Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III's sisters received an unexpected gift from an urban poor group in Bacolod City over the weekend: plastic bottles filled with coins which was their contribution to Noynoy's presidential bid.

Pinky Aquino-Abellada and Elena "Ballsy" Aquino-Cruz, both sisters of Noynoy, received the bottles which were given by members of the Federation of Urban Poor in Negros Occidental.

Joy Jarabelo, vice-president of local group Uswag Love, said the bottles are a symbol of their support for Aquino's presidential bid for the 2010 elections.

"Gusto namin ipadala ang aming pagsuporta kay Senador Noynoy. Hindi niyo kami kailangang bilhin, kami na mismo ang gagastos para sa kampanya and to convince other groups to support Noy," Jarabelo told the Aquino sisters.

Pinky said she was deeply touched by the gesture. "They don't have so much tapos ibibigay sa 'yo. It's really from the heart. You can feel the sincerity and their hope for change," she said.

Ballsy said she and Pinky agreed to represent Noynoy at the Bacolod convention after the latter had to beg off from the event. "It was just so touching that they gave up their own, yung kanya-kanya silang mga garapon. Grabe, talagang nakakaiyak," she said.

She added that the gesture reminded her of the presidential campaign of their mother, the late president Corazon Aquino, in 1986.

After the convention, the two sisters also visited the University of St. La Salle where they also received pledges of support for their brother's presidential bid. They also thanked Negrenses who joined them in mourning the death of their mother last August 1.
